98* is on the RISE... They are Nicholas Scott Lachey, 25, Justin Paul Jeffre, 26, Jeffrey Brandon Timmons, 26, Andrew John Lachey, 23. They formed four years ago, when they moved from Ohio to Los Angeles. They took odd jobs, and sang wherever they could find listeners and get noticed. They sang their way backstage at a Boyz II Men concert, and were discovered. They were signed at Motown Records, and the phenomenon began. Jeff started it all. He never new the other Nick, Justin, or Drew from Ohio. Jeff's brother's roommate introdunced him to Jon, who had gone to school with the other guys. Jon and Jeff were singing, and then Jon brought in Nick. Nick was with them for 3 weeks, and suggested they have a bass, his friend Justin. The four of them were singing at odd places, to get noticed. Then they got a gig at L.A.'s House of Blues, and Jon thought that singing wasn't his thing. They realized they needed a baritone. Nick called his younger brother Drew, who was in NY, and the group came to be 98*. They picked 98* because they created an atmosphere of heat and passion and romance, with tempatures of 98* and on the rise.
